Doctor's Appointment Update

I realized I never updated after I saw the doctor back in September. I saw her for my yearly exam, but we also discussed our efforts to conceive.

Since it was obvious from charts that I was ovulating she recommended we do some tests on both of us. I told her I'd call her office after speaking to our insurance company.

So I came home and called the insurance company, who revealed how truly evil they are! They cover nothing!! And with me being unemployed that means we have to wait to have any tests run. Either for Tim to get a better job with better insurance, or for us to afford to pay out of pocket.

I really liked the doctor though. So I'm happy to be going to her for all my girl stuff. She was really open, and told personal stories about her experiences with conceiving.

Another TTC Update.

Still no baby. I've scheduled my yearly exam for September 14th, so we'll see what input the doctor has on our situation. I don't think Tim will be going with me. I actually haven't even asked him if he's interested in going. So I'll ask, and see what he says.

We've been working on narrowing down our baby names list. I've been going back and forth over whether I wanted to share our ideas with everyone or keep them a secret. I've decided to share my top 5 boy and girl names. These aren't necessarily what we'll go with.

Girl: Ashlyn, Kailyn, Aubrey, Ryan and Shaylyn

Boy: Kaden, Ryan, Alexander (Xander), Colton, and Jackson

I really prefer Ryan for a girl, but since H really doesn't I'll compromise and use it for a boy. That's why it is on both lists.

TTC Update.

Since I haven't talked about our baby-making efforts in awhile, I thought I would make a short post to say where we are. I'm on my 11th cycle since starting to try back in September. I'm at around day 11.

The cycle that ended the beginning of May got my hopes up. It ended up lasting 33 days, which is really long for me. But all the pregnancy tests I took came back negative. My mom had a mini freak out when she thought I was hiding a pregnancy from her. A cousin came up to her at a funeral and said "So Danni's pregnant?" My mom didn't know what to say. No clue where my cousin got her information, but it obviously wasn't accurate. But mom had to confront me about it, so I had to set her straight. At that point I was still in that 33 day cycle, and had just taken a pregnancy test that morning. Which is exactly what I told her. So now she's back to bugging me about whether or not I'm pregnant every time she talks to me.

I took a month off from temping. I just got sick of the stress, and thinking about it everyday (at least long enough to take the temp), plus it doesn't seem to be working since I've been temping since the beginning with no luck. That only lasted one cycle, so now I'm back to being a good kid and taking my temps everyday. At least this way I'll have something to show the doctor, if I end up having to see someone once the year of trying is up.

I said this would be short, but I guess I had some rambling to do.

I'm not even that unlucky...

According to the Chinese calendar, if I conceived in the month of March it would be a girl. Also, I would have been due around Mid-December. The two things that I don't really want. For some reason, I really want a boy. And December is busy enough. There is my little sister's birthday, 2 days later is H's birthday, and then of course you have Christmas.

I decided when March began that even if it meant having a girl in December I would be happy with that. It's getting frustrating to go every month with no positive results. So instead of not trying this month, I said if it happens then it happens and I'll be happy. And I absolutely would have been.

Today AF showed up. So I'm not even getting a girl in December. We won't be having a baby in 2009. Just had to vent a little.

Trying to Conceive

So when I started this blog, I mentioned that I would talk about our attempts at getting pregnant. First off, I have no intention of getting into graphic details about various bodily functions. It's just not my style to talk about, let alone share it online.

We started talking about having kids just a couple years into our relationship, but we really wanted to wait till we did the "I Dos." Tim was fine with starting trying right after the wedding, but after the wedding I wasn't so gung-ho anymore. When trying was more abstract, and determined by when we set the wedding date it wasn't so scary and I was impatient to start. When the time to actually get pregnant arrived, it was a lot scarier than I had anticipated. So while we got married last May, it wasn't until September that I actually stopped taking the pills.

I went on birth control very shortly before meeting Tim, so I had been on birth control for over 5 years at the time I stopped taking them. Taking a little pill everyday got to be a responsible habit, but one I had no problem breaking. At this point I'm on my 7th cycle. Getting pregnant isn't happening as quickly as I'd like. My mom got pregnant just a few short months after her wedding, and had me and my sister within 3 years of marriage. My sister got pregnant right out of high school and I now have 2 beautiful nieces. My concern is that no one in my family has ever been on birth control for as long as I was. I honestly don't know a female relative that is on it at all. I'm definitely worried about how the birth control will influence our efforts.

We'll just have to wait and see.
